The Fall Giveaway! (New and Improved)

Since not everyone has a blog to post a recipe to (which is what the old giveaway entailed), I've decided to revamp the raffle to make it much easier to enter. If you remember from the original Fall Favorite Giveaway, I posted this:

"I realized that I have a pumpkin problem. In the past week alone I have indulged in pumpkin cupcakes, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin spice lattes, salads with roasted pumpkin seeds, pumpkin smoothies, a pumpkin face mask, and potentially other pumpkin goodies that I was oblivious to in my pumpkin coma. So what is going on here? (You better not say an addiction to baked goods or I'll slap you.) The air is cool, the leaves are falling, I'm wearing cute boots...fall is here!"

And then today, I remembered this:

Yes, it's true. I was a pumpkin for Halloween last year. So in the true spirit of Fall and my obvious addiction, I am giving away A Scent of Scandal Candle in "Rough Patch" (aka pumpkin aka duh what flavor did you expect). All you have to do is leave a comment sharing what your favorite Halloween costume was (or is going to be)! For an extra three chances to win, send a photo to vegissexymail@gmail.com and I will post all the photos!

If you are already working on a post for the old fall giveaway, send it in anyway! You'll get three chances to win.

The Giveaway will end one week from tomorrow, on Wednesday, October 7th at noon. Winner will be chosen out of a hat!

And fyi, I was burning my own "Rough Patch" candle last night and I thought I had died and gone to Fall Heaven. It smells amazing!

The giveaway is officially closed and the winner has been chosen! It will be announced here on the site at midnight tonight. Thanks so much to everyone who entered!

I don't usually dress up for Halloween myself, but I do coax my dog-kids to don costumes in exchange for yummy vegan dog treats.

My absolute favorite dog/costume combo is from last year, when my little Kaylee dressed up as doggierella:

YUM! I am obsessed with pumpkin (and Fall in general)! I think it's because I was born in October.

I LOVE Halloween (naturally), so it's hard to choose a favorite costume... But I think the one that was the most fun was when I dressed as an '80s Aerobics Instructor (2 years ago). I had these old fluorescent leopard stretch pants from when I was in elementary school (thank gourd for stretch or they def wouldn't have fit!), a hot pink leotard, legwarmers, used my old hair crimper, wore blue eyeliner, etc. etc. I went out to the bars with some friends & did aerobics moves on the dancefloor all night!

I'll send you a pic, embarrassing as it may be...

One year my hubby and I dressed up as "the blind leading the blind". . . he wore a black and white striped 'referee shirt' and black pants, I wore blue jeans & a blue denim shirt w/a white tee-shirt peaking out & ball-cap (like a softball umpire) - then we both wore small round dark sunglasses and split a pair of "Doggy Slippers" - each wore one on one foot and a regular tennis-shoe on the other - and had leashes roped to the Doggy Slippers. We also used white canes . . . so the blind ref and the blind ump were "the blind leading the blind"! Simple to do, but pretty funny!

Cute costume! My favorite costume was Peter Pan, I was obsessed with the play at the time and acted it out everynight for my family, so getting to dress up as him for Halloween was a thrill!

I changed my mind!!! When I was in elementary school in the early '90s, the Disney movie "Aladdin" was popular. I decided that I wanted to be a genie for Halloween, so my mom made me a wonderful costume made with shiny purple material & gold fringe. It had super baggy pants that were tight around the ankles (like Aladdin wore), and we all thought it was very "authentic" looking... HOWEVER, MC Hammer was also popular at the time, and when I wore my costume to school for our Halloween celebration, everyone made fun of me & called me MC Hammer while singing "You Can't Touch This." I was so embarrassed & cried on my way home. However, I had fun trick-or-treating & that outfit is still my favorite because it's a funny story & I think it's sweet that my mom made my costume. To bring it full circle, just a couple weeks ago, I was at a flea market & found an MC Hammer Barbie-style doll that was wearing an outfit almost IDENTICAL to my Halloween genie costume. I bought it, of course. I'll try to scrounge up a picture of my outfit to send...

Just for fun, I wanted to add - one of my friends last year dressed as Cindy McCain & carried around a skeleton with a white wig on its head (John). So bad, but so good.

These are so funny!

Haha Jess, I hope you find a picture. I'm dying to see MC Hammer. I mean the genie.

Another Fall fan checking in. I love your blog!!

My favorite Halloween costume is an old standby that works well with my year-round love for vintage slips. At Halloween, I just throw on a couple of them, vamp up the makeup, and scrawl "Fruedian" across my chest in eyeliner. It's free, easy to do, and always gets a (corny) laugh! Fruedian Slip! I did like being Med White one year too- all red & white, black pigtail wig, and drumsticks :)

One year my friends and I dressed up as the Beastie Boys, which was extra super fun because we're girls. :) We performed at a party and it went so well that we had requests to perform all over the place for about a year!

Another year I was a Freudian slip.

I've gone as a cat for the last three years. I think I probably need something a little more original this year!

Last year I went as a sea anemone. with my newly developed obsession of the ocean, the prior year i was a mermaid (which was pretty great as well) and wanted to keep the ocean theme going.... i made the costume myself by spray painting a shower curtain having it hang around me by a hula-hoop that i had hanging down from an attachment on my head, and a ridiculous hat. unfortunately, where-ever i went people thought that i was a condom ...
