The Ice Cream Kiss

Last year Netflix had a "Greatest Kiss" competition where you recreate famous kisses from movies and send them in. A good friend of mine worked at a film company and was hiring actors to shoot a bunch of scenes, so I dragged my beautiful friend S along to smooch him onscreen (*sigh*, what a girl will do for fifty bucks...) Anyway, I knew they wanted us to do The Notebook, but when we arrived they asked us to do the ice cream kiss from the beginning of the film. I was not vegan at the time so I gladly accepted the vanilla cone they bought me downstairs and we ran around the corner to shoot. Since they were trying to crank out these scenes in as short of time as possible, it was kind of hectic and fast - let's do the ice cream kiss, done, somebody go buy her an ice cream cone, done, go grab the camera, boom, makeup check, hair check, outside to shoot. If I had been vegan at the time, it would have been a total inconvenience to deny the non-vegan prop, it would have made me look bad especially working with new people, and I would be causing eye-rolling problems in such a short amount of time. Plus, I was totally struggling that month and really needed that $50 for groceries.

Of course there are problems that can arise ahead of time, and for a long term project like a play or a film this thing can completely avoided. But sometimes these shoots happens so fast and I may have future vegan concerns in my job, so what should I do in this kind of last minute situation? If you were put in this position today, what would you do? Does your lifestyle ever interfere with your job?

This is such a deep!! question. At what price would one change their values or beliefs. $50 bucks, or a million. Guess it depends on the proposal and one's beliefs and the circumstance. Wow this is getting me thinking.

My dietary choices are my own based on health issues, allergies, etc and it just requires planning ahead so I am not inside of say TGIFriday's at 6pm not having eaten much all day with ice burg lettuce and cesar dressing being my only option :) Planning, snacks, etc keeps "interference" to a minimum. :)
