Raw and Rawrrrr!

Ok so after all of yesterday's comments I obviously have to give vegan cream cheese frosting another shot. I think I used the WF brand of cream cheese but it sounds like most of you guys use Tofutti - I retract my previous judgment and will try again. Also, I just wanted to let you guys know that yesterday the 9 year old boy I babysit asked me, "What is Vegan? Does that mean you're from Vegas?"

So...have you guys ever seen the movie The Green Mile? I just saw it for the first time. Let me just say, I was so emotionally invested in that movie and afterward it took me a little while to function normally again. It was just heartbreaking and touching and yet I couldn't quite put my finger on exactly what was getting to me. But anyway, the point is that Mr. Jingles is my new favorite movie animal. He is the freaking cutest mouse and such an important part of the movie! I loved that the film emphasized the love that people can have for animals and how the animals themselves have characters and personalities all their own.

In food news, I'm helping one of my friends start experimenting with and dabbling in veganism and during one of her recent shopping adventures she picked up one of these Raw Revolution bars as a little Valentine treat for me. I know I've been reviewing a lot of bars lately and after my last chocolate food bar experience I was a little bit nervous. But this was awesome! I had the Chocolate and Coconut flavor, I was so pleased and enjoyed every bite. Raw Revolution prides itself on being raw, vegan, uncooked, soy free, no refined sugars and non GMO. The ingredients list was also super short: cashews, agave, dates, coconut, cocoa powder, almond, sprouted flax. Done. Love it. Though they are a bit high in calories, this would be a great backup snack to keep in your purse or car for hunger emergencies.

But back to the movies...I really love when there are great animal characters in cinema. Babe! Air Bud! Beethoven! Free Willy! Simba from The Lion King! Shadow, Chance, and Sassy from Homeward Bound! Whoa that was so random. Who are your favorite movie animals?

Also, shout out to Michal for her first Veganniversary and first blog giveaway! Check it out!

heehee that mouse is so darn cute.. and i freaking love the "does that mean you're from vegas?" comment. Best reply EVER to telling someone you're vegan. Much more refreshing than the usual, "where do you get your protein!?"

I haaaaated Tofutti cream cheese when I first went vegan, but now I love it. It just took some getting used to the taste. It tastes amazing in frosting and if you are using it as a savory spread, I highly recommend mincing a ton of fresh dill and mixing it with the Tofutti. I put dill tofutti cream cheese out as a dip with crackers at every party I host and it's always the first thing to go--even among all meat eaters!

I love Raw Revolution Bars! It's been months since I had some! Of the ones I've tried so far, I really liked the ones in the green wrapper-- "Spirulina" or something like that. Delish!
