Back in November I was debating whether to try Field Roast's Celebration Roast or the Tofurkey Roast for my Thanksgiving dinner. Since I'm more of a seitan fan I went with the Field Roast (ps LOVED it), but have still been curious about the Tofurkey Roast. Actually it's basically the same set up - the "roast" with stuffing in the middle. Lucky me, they had a bunch at Trader Joe's this week! I bought it at a fabulously low Trader Joe's price and brought it home. I cooked the roast on a bed of chopped onions, carrots, celery, and green onions. The box suggests marinating the tofurkey in a baste of oil and spices and eating the gravy on the side, but I ended up pouring the container of gravy over the whole thing and just using that as the baste. The vegetables ended up tender, creamy, and flavorful, and the tofurkey itself was chewy and delicious. While this was cooking in the oven there was something really nostalgic about the way it smelled - like the non-veg roasts that Mom would be cooking when you came home after school exhausted and hungry and it would just smell like dinner, you know? Only this time it's better because no animals were in the oven, just delicious plant-based amazingness!

It looks really yummy! I have yet to try a veg roast, after 3 years of being vegetarian......; I have no idea how that happened. Better get on that!
Try it Amanda! They are great novelty items!
This delicious product has been a staple at Thanksgiving dinner now for a few years! It IS good! Addictively so! I am always a little sad when it's all gone. :) I should purchase it more often during the year! I should get one this weekend! :)
Is it Thanksgiving yet again? YUM.
