First of all, Daiya comes shredded which makes it infinitely easier to put on just about whatever you want. No tricky slicing or dicing involved. Second, this is the creamiest and melts the easiest of all vegan cheese I've tried. It also just tastes the best! Unfortunately it's getting so popular that it's been selling out and I was only able to buy the Italian (mozzarella) flavor at the time, but it only gives me something to look forward to when I get the cheddar!
I tried Daiya on some of my favorite, classically cheesy, standard American heart-attack inducing dishes. Thank goodness vegan food is cholesterol free!
The first meal I used it on was, of course, pizza! A whole wheat crust topped with marinara, mushrooms, broccoli, peppers, and Gimme Lean - and of course, tons and tons of Daiya!
At first I thought the dough hadn't cooked all the way through because I wasn't expecting the intensely creamy texture of the cheese. Awesome!
Here I sauteed a vegan Boca burger and melted Daiya on top in an effort to create an all-American cheeseburger. Worked for me! And my dad, which says a lot!
A plate of absolutely incredible delicious melty nachos.
Here is Daiya sprinkled on a bowl of spicy black bean soup. This was my least favorite way of eating Daiya. I'm not a huge fan of eating plain veg cheese - in fact I always melt it on whatever I'm eating, it just tastes better that way. Maybe I should have popped this in the microwave, but next time I'll skip it on the soup. And my favorite Daiya experience...drumroll please...
GRILLED CHEESE! I cut up a single roll in four thin slices and made two small sandwiches. Daiya with a little bit of garlic salt in these two small, crispy sandwiches. OH GOD.
Look at that stretch! I'm getting hot and hungry just looking at it.In short, you really haven't lived until you've tried Daiya. I know that there are a lot of really good vegan cheeses out there, but this is just a whole new level of amazing. Have you tried Daiya? What are you favorite ways to eat it?

I need some Daiya in my life, seriously! I can't believe it even stretches, that's like a miracle in vegan terms. Looks amazing, thanks for the review!
How funny, I just tried Daiya (cheddar) for the first time yesterday! It was pretty tasty in grilled cheese sandwich form. I must say, despite hearing all this talk of how it melts and stretches, I was still pleasantly surprised about how cheesy this stuff actually is!
Oh wow, it's so beautiful I could just Daiya! (LOL, you started it!) And nope, you're not the last vegan to try it, I still haven't had any, but I can wait for it to appear at my Whole Foods (I check almost every time I go).
Yummy post, Andria, thanks!

Thanks for sharing your yummy daiya adventures! I too am keep looking for it to show up at WF, but was lucky enough to be able to score a daiya grilled cheese a few weeks ago at a vegan bakery and almost fell off my chair it was so AWESOME. I need this to be a regular in my life too!!
Can you believe I've never tried any kind of vegan cheese?! Sad but true. This sounds like a great product, though! I miss comfort foods like pizza and grilled cheese more than actual cheese, so now I really want to try this!
Actually I think I am... I stil havent tried it! :( I think I might be placing an order soon though so im excited about that!
I also have yet to try Daiya. But when I do, you can bet I'm going to write about it! The build up for this product is HUGE! I hope it will be as wonderful as everybody says it is! But really, Andria, your pictures are quite convincing! I saw the gooeyness, and Oh! I just can't wait to taste it for myself! :D
We tried Daiya on pizza of course. FANTASTIC vegan cheese.
you're not the last vegan to try it...i am. Still need to give it a whirl!

I work at the wholefoods in Philly and whenever we get our Daiya shipment in it FLIES off the shelf!!!!! I bought 1 1/2 pounds and it was devoured within two days ... (don't worry I shared it with my 3 roomies ...).
I didn't stop making quesidillas with the cheddar, and pizza with the italian... ITS SOOO GOOD! My good friend told me he makes mac n cheese with it by using the Veganomicon's "cheesey sauce" recipe, then adding daiya to it for an extra cheesey goodness!!! One of our chefs makes an amazing "mexican lasagna" with it, he layers tortillas, salsa, beans, daiya and tofutti sour cream ... its to daiya for!!
You'll love the cheddar when you try it! I just recently tried it too - had to order through pangea. I liked it so much that I got the big daddies - it freezes well!
My fave way to eat it is (using the cheddar) in a quesadilla with green chilies and sliced onions. SO simple, but SO good!! Nachos & pizza are my other go-to daiyas. This is really the first vegan cheese I've ever really liked - in almost 20 yrs as a vegan! WOOT!
