about it in the morning she says, "But, it's ok...I've slept with him before!...it's like recycling...it's...good for the environment..."Haha! What a great excuuuuse. (I couldn't find a shirtless pic of Karev but McSteamy will always do juuuuust fine)
In not so haha news I'm feeling really sick today for the first time in ages. I think I may have caught a sore throat/cold from the kids I sit for. Unfortunately these are not grounds for creative culinary genius, so in keeping with theme a la McSteamy and last week's Oldies But Goodies post I'll be recycling some old favorites -- recipes this time! I've also just posted these fave recipes on the site's sidebar for easy access. Enjoy, cook, eat, and leave a comment for today's entry to the Sexy Spiralizer Giveaway! What are your favorite movie or tv quotes? What are some of your favorite movies or tv shows?
One more thing -- since I got my mom to almost completely stop eating meat, her cholesterol has dropped 37 points!!! Her bloodwork was phenomenal - everything was in it's healthiest range! Who said you need meat to be healthy? NO ONE! Way to go, Mom!
Don't forget to follow me on Blogger or Google reader so you can be notified immediately when new posts are published! You can enter the giveaway on every post this week and the spiralizer winner will be announced Sunday! Also, I'm fairly new to Food Buzz so if you are a member of that please friend me as well!

Hi Andria!
I've been thinking about "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade", lately. That movie cracks me up! I especially like the old man guardian of the cup of Christ. He has this one line: "He chose... poorly." It's just great! I'm assuming everybody's seen this movie, right?
Oh and I checked out your recipes for the Best Sandwich Ever as well as your Pumpkin Pancakes! I hope to give both meals a try soon!
That sandwich recipe and the quesapizza look delicious!
I love Mean Girls for quotes.
Karen: I can't go out.
[fakes cough]
Karen: I'm sick.
Regina: Boo, you whore.
Bahahahaha!
Mrs. George: Hey, you guys! Happy hour is from four to six!
Cady: Um, is there alcohol in this?
Mrs. George: Oh, God, honey, no! What kind of mother do you think I am? Why, do you want a little bit? Because if you're going to drink I'd rather you do it in the house.
I love that movie! It always makes me laugh.
I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well, Andria. :( On the more positive side of things, those are some fantastic recipes! The sweet potato chili sounds world-rocking, indeed! And I'm loving the harvest oatmeal, as I eat a similar combination most mornings.
My roommate and I often used to quote from the most random movies, usally one-liners. There are so many, I can't even think of one specifically. As for TV, I always loved The Simpsons and sometimes think of this quote from the "Lisa the Treehugger" episode when someone asks me what vegans eat: [Jesse] "I'm a level five vegan--I won't eat anything that casts a shadow." Classic!
I hope you feel better soon!
I've never watched Grey's, but I think both Gossip Girl and House have a lot of good one-liners! GG is definitely my favorite show, but I like to watch House with the BF, too :)
I love the idea or reposting links to older posts!
Hope you feel better soon!
I don't remember quotes very well, but favorite movies are: Wedding Crashers and the Notebook.
Fav TV: '24', CSI, CSI Miami and Damages.
i hope you feel better...try some oil of oregano...it usually works on everyone but me!
my fave quotes:
he's just not that into you:
5 yr. old Girl: Why did you do that?
6 yr. old Boy: Because you smell like dog poo.
and from the holiday (very sappy but i love it):
iris: I understand feeling as small and as insignificant as humanly possible. And how it can actually ache in places you didn't know you had inside you. And it doesn't matter how many new haircuts you get, or gyms you join, or how many glasses of chardonnay you drink with your girlfriends... you still go to bed every night going over every detail and wonder what you did wrong or how you could have misunderstood. And how in the hell for that brief moment you could think that you were that happy. And sometimes you can even convince yourself that he'll see the light and show up at your door. And after all that, however long all that may be, you'll go somewhere new. And you'll meet people who make you feel worthwhile again. And little pieces of your soul will finally come back. And all that fuzzy stuff, those years of your life that you wasted, that will eventually begin to fade.
and one more from sex and the city:
Charlotte: I've been dating since I was fifteen! I'm exhausted! Where is he?
Miranda: Who, the White Knight?
Samantha: That only happens in fairy tales.
Charlotte: My hair hurts.
my fave shows are: sex and the city and king of queens
fave movies: when a man loves a woman, casablanca, great expectations, elf, the holiday, in her shoes, under the tuscan sun and many more...
I think it's great that you helped your mom lower her cholesterol by not eating meat. What a great motivator for getting people to cut back! I am a little sick too right now, hope you feel better soon. :)
One of my fave movies of all time, Clue the Movie, has many great quotes, but here's a taste.
Mrs. Peacock: "Is everything alright?"
Colonel Mustard: "Yup. Two corpses. Everything's fine!"
This is now my standard reply to the "is everything alright" question when asked. ;-)
Wow! Way to go, Mom!
One of my favorite quotes is from the late, great Madeline Kahn in History of the World Part I. After being carried along Roman-style on the shoulders of 4 brawny men, she orders them to bring her caravan to a halt...
"Would you please step.... on the same foot... at the same time?... My tits are falling off!!"
Woohoo! That's fantastic news about your mom! How exciting!
I have too many movies to name, but one of my favorites for quotes is probably "Coming to America" with Eddie Murphy. SO FUNNY. I am also loving "Office Space" right now because I am hating my job & can totally relate to Peter. :)
I'd have to say my favorite movie right now is Stranger than Fiction.
I'm ok with the recycling of old recipes :) I should try it when I'm "blogged out". As for tv, well we're definitely a Law & Order household, and House, Lost, and Heroes are some of my other favorites. Hope you feel better soon!
My favorite shows are The Office, and Chelsea Lately. Never fails to give me a good laugh :)
I like recycling b/c they are new to me or others sometimes...I do it all the time and feel like i must bore my regular readers but people appreciate it so i do it.
great meal in your last post! i chop up the zuke schlong and eat it in the meal (twss!)
hahah YES loved that quote! so happy i just found your blog!
I want that spiralizer!! fav movies include Life As a House and Mean Girls
Oh boy, I am so lame that I quote movies all the time!
Harry: "Men and women can never be friends."
Sally: "Why?"
Harry: "Because the sex part always gets in the way."
- When Harry Met Sally
"There's something in the oysters!" -- Rose Byrne's character in Marie Antoinette
"Hello, lover." - Carrie on a Sex and the City episode
As for tv shows, grad school leaves me very little time! I do love Giada's cooking shows, Cash Cab, Celebrity Rehab, Real Housewives, Rachel Zoe Project, and Project Runway. I have waaaaay too many favorite movies! They're all listed on my facebook though! :)
xx
p.s.: they have street recycling in paris! how cool is that?! i'll post a pic soon on my blog...it looks like a robot!
Hey Amanda (http://opinionsofawolf.wordpress.com/), that's one of my fave movies! SO many great lines in that one. "I had to stop her from screaming!" I used to watch that over and over when I was younger. Murder by Death is another great movie inspired by Clue (or a satire of Clue, I suppose).
xx
I'm terrible at remembering quotes! Actually I'm terrible with remembering movie names and actors too. Oh well, still enjoy them!
Currently I'm loving "The Middle" and I admittedly get most of my news from Jon Steward/ Colbert Report :p
I have a terrible memory for quotes. It's the same with jokes. They just don't stick for me, but I love when others pull them out of thin air!
I must say I can recite quite a bit from Tommy Boy, but that can be credited to a university roommate who was obsessed with the movie. He played it over and over and quoted it over and over. Definitely reminds me of him!
I'm not much of a quotes person, but "Damn the man save the Empire" has always just... stuck. (Empire records). Since I went from vegetarian to vegan diet my cholesterol and triglicerides went from high to low! Seriously, is that not reason enough?!
Congratulations on your mom! That is amazing that her cholestoral dropped 37 points, and I bet she has much more energy now. I got my mom to stop drinking cows milk, and now she loves her soy. :) A small triumph but im happy!
